Nefertiti capelet
BUY THIS PATTERN AT RAVELRY OR ETSY (IN ENGLISH AND DUTCH)
Nefertiti (the beauty has come) is a capelet knitted in soft, light, tweedy organic wool. It looks 'different', rich and colourful: there is colourwork and texture at the same time. When I showed a picture of the blocked capelet in a Facebook knitting group there were a lot of knitters who said that it reminded them of Neferetiti, an old Egyptian queen. So... I was grateful that I had the name I was looking for.
I wanted to design a short cape, fitted on the shoulders, to wear over a dress (or on a jeans;-), a bit like ladies wore in the fifties of the last century, but more bold and expressive. The capelet is knitted top down.
I wrote the pattern in 5 sizes: 34-36, 38-40, 42-44, 46-48 and 50-52. The languages are English and Dutch.

Difficulty level/techniques used: intermediate. You need to know how to cast on, to knit (colourwork), to purl (colourwork), to bind off, to pick up stitches and make short rows (I provide also information about short rows).
Yarn used: BC Garn Loch Lomond Lace GOTS, 100% wool. You knit this wool with a double thread. You can also use Loch Lomond GOTS, in single thread.
Gauge: 5,5 stitches per inch, 22 st per 10 cm horizontal and about 24,4 rows per 10 cm vertical.
Needed: Loch Lomond Lace GOTS (see above: yarn used), circular needles size 4 and 6 (3,5 and 4 mm), or other sizes to get the gauge. Stitch markers, and buttons.
Yarn used per colour: note that you knit with double thread, so 50 grams = 150 m instead of 300 m.
